It's Christmas Eve, 1965, and ten-year-old Simon is doing typical little boy stuff, playing with his model railway and looking forward to a treat of jelly and ice-cream.
His mother, Hannah, is downstairs watching their small black and white TV and calls Simon down to join her.

However, a fun night together is not what Simon has in mind. He has other plans, satisfying a grudge that he's held for several incarnations.
​
How fortunate that he was reborn to this particular woman. She has no recollection of her own past lives but Simon remembers all of his and there is a savage debt to pay from 150 years ago.
Deaf and mute, six-year-old Eclipse's only means of communication with the outside world is to lip-read and write what she wants to say on her cell phone. However, she is also a telepath in a society that is suspicious of the small community of mind readers that lives among the general population and sees them as a threat.

An unfortunate incident at a medical appointment leads to the chance of her telepathic powers being discovered and her parents are forced to take extreme measures to keep her safe, leaving her at a remote house in the desert and praying that the occupant will take good care of her.
​
It is a heartrending solution, abandoning their only daughter to an unknown future but if she stays in the Blue City she will no doubt be captured and experimented upon.
But the Fates have their own plans for the little girl.
